Mark Zuckerberg announced today on Facebook that WhatsApp has now 1 billion monthly active users (MAU), after WhatsApp founder Jan Koum originally wanted to announce at the DLD conference in Munich the reach of this goal. New screenshots from an unreleased WhatsApp Beta version have been leaked, which show two upcoming features: Sharing account info with Facebook and advanced encryption settings. As pointed out by reddit user caschy, these features have been discovered in WhatsApp's Beta version 2.12.411, but apparently these changes are not visible to all users who have this version installed. After WhatsApp previously banned Telegram links on their messaging platform, things are heating up between these two rivals. WhatsApp's recent move to block Telegram links in their popular messaging app tells us that they are now seriously considering Telegram as a direct competitor. Furthermore, these links can not be copied to mobile browsers or any other app. It's interesting though that apparently not all phones are affected.
